Privacy Policy

Refilio ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application that helps Filipino drivers track fuel prices, calculate trip costs, log drives, and chat with an AI fuel assistant. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

2. Guest Mode

You can use core features of Refilio (like the fuel-cost calculator) without creating an account. In guest mode, your data is stored locally on your device. Some features — saving trips, the Fidel AI assistant, Drive Mode, and Refilio Plus — require an account so your data can be secured and synced to you.

3. Location Data

Location data is collected only when:

You explicitly enable Drive Mode, which uses background GPS to detect and record trips.
You use the Map screen to view your position or plan routes.

Location data is used solely for app functionality. We do not sell, share, or use location data for advertising or tracking purposes. You can disable Drive Mode or revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings.

4. Payments & Subscriptions

Refilio Plus is an auto-renewing subscription. Payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never see or store your card or payment details.

We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage your subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymized user identifier tied to your account, your purchase/renewal/cancellation events, and product identifiers — not your payment details.
We store your current plan (free or Plus) and subscription status in our backend so the app can unlock the right features.
You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

5. Fidel — AI Assistant

Fidel is an in-app AI assistant. When you send Fidel a message, the message and a small amount of relevant context from your account (such as your active vehicle's fuel efficiency, current fuel price, and recent trips) are sent securely to our backend and to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a response.

Your conversations are saved to your account so you can revisit them, and are synced across your devices.
We do not use your chat content to advertise to you, and we do not sell it.
Anthropic processes messages to generate responses under its own terms and does not train its models on data sent through its API.

6. How Data Is Stored

Local storage: Vehicle profiles, trip history, and preferences are cached on your device using AsyncStorage.
Cloud sync: If you create an account, your data is synced to our backend (powered by Supabase) to enable cross-device access and backup.

7. Third-Party Services

Refilio relies on the following third-party services:

Supabase — Authentication and cloud data storage. Privacy policy
RevenueCat — Subscription management and purchase validation. Privacy policy
Apple & Google — In-app purchase processing for Refilio Plus.
Anthropic — Powers the Fidel AI assistant. Privacy policy
Cloudflare — Hosts our API backend that routes AI and mapping requests. Privacy policy
Mapbox — Routing and geocoding. Privacy policy
OpenStreetMap & Overpass API — Map data and discovering nearby gas stations. Privacy policy

We do not use any advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.

8. Data Sharing

We do not:

Sell your personal data to anyone
Share your data with advertisers
Use your data for tracking or profiling
Transmit data to third parties beyond the service providers listed above (each acting only to provide the app's functionality)

9. Data Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Cloud-synced data (for registered users) is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Profile → Deactivate Account), or by contacting us.

10. Children's Privacy

Refilio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the data we hold about you
Request correction or deletion of your data
Revoke location permissions at any time via device settings
Use core features in guest mode without providing personal information
Delete your account and all associated cloud data

12. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure authentication through Supabase. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
